How hydraulic accumulators work to store energy efficiently

A hydraulic accumulator works in a similar way to an electric storage battery; instead of storing electricity it stores fluid under pressure. They are composed of a pressure vessel, fluid port and gas port divided by a bladder or piston. The gas gets compressed by the storage fluid pushed into the accumulator, which stores its potential energy.
